Health Tips

Pump Some Iron!
Did you know that one pound of muscle burns 30-50 calories per day, while one pound of fat only burns about 9 calories per day? The more muscle your body contains, the more calories you will burn each day.

Muscle Building Golden Rules
When lifting weights always select the right amount of weight for you. Typically you should be able to handle the load for ten to twelve repetitions. As a general rule if you are not able to lift a weight at least 6 times, it is too heavy; if you can easily lift it more than twelve times, increase the weight or you are not progressing. Always rest between sets. Start with 1 or two sets of the same exercise and grow from there. Remember, never exercise the same muscles in subsequent days.

Complex Carbs
Eat complex carbohydrates instead of simple sugars for a leaner body. Your body is in constant need of carbs to be converted into glucose and used as fuel. When your body has extra glucose it will be stored as fat for later use. Complex carbs, such as whole grains, legumes, and vegetables, take longer to break down into glucose, and will therefore, be less likely to be stored as fat than simple carbs such as table sugar, or fruit sugar.
